Navigating Qwiklabs for the first time can be an arduous process. It's easy to make a mistake on submissions and the labs. Please make sure to read and understand the instructions in the lab to prevent these kinds of mistakes.

Please make sure you understand the instructions (you need to be logged in to Coursera and enrolled in the course to access these links) and take the Quiz prior to accessing Qwiklabs.

The following are common problems faced by learners using Qwiklabs:

πŸ“Œ "Sorry your quota has been exceeded for the lab"

If you receive the error message "Sorry your quota has been exceeded for the lab." This means that you have exceeded the number of retakes given to you in Qwiklabs.

To reset your status, click the ❓ at the top right of the lab instruction screen and select chat support.

If you need further assistance please contact Qwiklabs Customer Support or Coursera Customer Support. You can also reach out for a 1:1 with the Tech Advisor team via Calendly or email techops@meritamerica.org for assistance.

πŸ“Œ "Sorry, you can only run one lab at a time."

This error message appears if you did not end your previous lab.

Please make sure you click "End Lab" before moving on to the next one. This will remove the resources you've used and cleans the account for you in order to run another lab.

If, for some reason, you can not find the "End Lab" button. You can simply wait an hour for the lab to expire (Note: it will count as a failed attempt if you do this), to access the next lab.If the problem still persists then contact the Qwiklabs support team.

πŸ“Œ My "check progress" is not updating!

Before troubleshooting, please make sure that you've done the specific objective needed to complete the lab. Each graded step will have this "Check my progress" button to see if you've accomplished the task.

Sometimes, there is a delay in the progress update. Please wait or simply refresh the page.

DO NOT close your browser, there is a chance you may lose your progress if you do so.

πŸ“Œ Another way to check your progress

There is another way to check your progress. Navigate to the top right of your lab screen and you should be able to see an orange button that will have a score count (see screenshots). If you click on it, it will show you an overview of things you will need to accomplish in this lab.

Please make sure you click on "End Lab" after completing all your tasks to save your grade.

πŸ“Œ The Windows/Linux VM won't start after I click "Start Lab"

Sometimes it will take a while for the Windows/Linux VM to start. These could be caused by a number of things (server load, bad internet connection, errors with browsers, etc.) Please make sure to wait at least 10 mins for the lab to load before moving on to the basic troubleshooting steps. Don't worry about running out of time as these labs take, at most, 20 mins to do.

A good way to wait for the lab to load is to read through the instructions and procedures of the lab. Try these basic troubleshooting steps before contacting customer support:

  1. Clear your cache and cookies.

  2. Please use a desktop/laptop/chrome book/mac to access the course as it will not open on a mobile device.

  3. Make sure you are using the most updated version of one of the following browsers: Google Chrome (most recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer.

  4. If a problem persists during a lab or quiz try opening it in Private Mode or Incognito Mode (Chrome)

  5. Try a different network. Sometimes when using a business or private network, you will not be able to access the Coursera site or submit assignments due to the firewall settings.
