How to update your email in Merit America Platforms

🛠️ General Guidance: If your email has been hacked or you need to change it, here’s how to update it across Canvas, Slack, and Coursera.

⚠️Do not change your email in Coursera. Your progress does not carry over to a new email, so you'd lose completed course work. Keep logging into Coursera with your original email.

💡If you're unable to update it yourself or no longer have access to the old email, please email us at techops@meritamerica.org with your new email address, and we’ll be happy to update it across the platforms for you.

📚 Step 1: Update Your Email in Canvas

Click your Account icon.
Select Settings.
Click + Email Address.
Enter your new email and click Register Email.
Click Ok
Go to your new inbox and confirm the email by clicking the link.

💬 Step 2: Update Your Email in Slack

Slack email updates must be done in a web browser (not the app).

🎓 Coursera: Keep Your Original Email

Coursera is the one exception. Course progress and certificates are tied to the email your account was created with and don't transfer, so changing it means starting over. Continue using your original email to sign in — this won't affect anything else in your program.
