Assemble a Computer

You will be assembling a computer in this graded part of the chapter! It's a straightforward process but you may encounter a few bugs in the graded plugin.

Here are a couple of workarounds/tips and troubleshooting steps that help past learners get through these glitches.

As with the other quizzes, you will have 3 retakes before it locks you out for 8 hours! Make sure to review the content and reread the instructions so you don't miss any steps.

Drag & Drop bug

Sometimes, when you try to drag the components to their corresponding slot, it glitches to another slot.

Click the slot instead

To avoid this, you can click on the slot that you wish to work on. It will open a drop-down menu of the components that are still available. Then simply select the right part for the slot!

CPU Slot

Don't forget that the CPU slot needs 4 components and they need to be put in the correct order! A lot of past learners missed this and have failed the quiz due to it.

Check Button

Also, don't forget to click the "Check" button to see if you've successfully assembled a computer! If you did, a window will pop up saying you scored 100%! Then you can submit your work!

Video Tutorials

These are two videos that helped past learners understand the concept of building a PC. The first video showcases the general idea of how to build a PC.

Note: The parts that you'll see in the videos may differ from the quiz (due to them using more complex parts). However, the general idea and the concept of building a PC are the same.

POV video

The second video goes into more detail by providing a POV of building one in real-time. Note: The parts that you'll see in the videos may differ from the quiz (due to them using more complex parts). However, the general idea and the concept of building a PC are the same.

Common Troubleshooting Steps

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

As always, working with online platforms will have unforeseen errors and glitches. It's important to be able to troubleshoot these problems and know who to contact when you can't fix them yourself.

Try these basic troubleshooting steps before contacting customer support:
1.) Clear your cache and cookies.
2.) Please use a desktop/laptop/chrome book/mac to access the course as it will not open on a mobile device.
3.) Make sure you are using the most updated version of one of the following browsers: Google Chrome (most recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer.
4.) If a problem persists during a lab or quiz try opening it in Private Mode or Incognito Mode (Chrome)
5.) Try a different network. Sometimes when using a business or private network, you will not be able to access the Coursera site or submit assignments due to the firewall settings.

Contact Coursera

If the problems persist, please contact Coursera Customer Support. Provide them with as much detail of the problem as possible and send screenshots!Make sure you are logged in to Coursera before clicking that link to contact customer support! The chat will not appear if you are not logged in.
